I turn to the United Nations with these considerations in the hope that they may contribute to the search for a realistic approach to te grave and urgent problems confronting humanity
In June 1950, physicist and Noble laureate Niels Bohr (1885 - 1962) wrote an open letter to the United Nations because he feared the development of nuclear weapons. In the letter, he called for international arms control. You can read it online here. Bohr also wrote a letter to Churchill, who invited him for a meeting. Afterwards, Bohr asked Churchill if he could write him again in the future. Churchill’s replied that he would look forward to receiving a letter from Bohr, as long as the subject was not politics.
